Whether you are worried about study or personal matters, the Counselling Centre can help you work through any issues in your life that affect your wellbeing and success.
Counselling is a process of talking about your concerns, with the aim of bringing about some change in the way you are experiencing your life. Sometimes counselling can help you to recognise feelings that may have built up over time.
Counselling is free to all students enrolled at Unitec and available at all three campuses. Counselling is a confidential service and can help with personal issues which may be impacting on your studies. We are a team of highly skilled and professionally qualified counsellors from a variety of training and cultural, including men and women, Maori, and gay practitioners.
A counsellor won't tell you what to do, but will help you consider all the available options.
Counselling can help with:
- Anxiety and stress
- Anger and conflict
- Grief and loss
- Changes and worries
- Cultural or identity issues
- Abuse and trauma
- Sexuality and sexual orientation
- Drugs and alcohol
- Family or relationship issues
- Decision making and goal setting
