Student Promo Team

Why does Unitec have a Student Promo Team?

Unitec employs students to help with promotional and Customer Journey work because students can relate well to prospective students.

What does the job involve?

Working with Customer Journey staff in secondary schools, helping with recruitment, campus tours, events, general promotional work and administrative duties.

Events include career expos and Info Evenings. In promotional work you will not be required to do a hard sell but rather answer honestly, from your own experience, many questions that prospective students have about the transition into tertiary education.

Who does the team report to?

Unitec's Relationship Programmes Advisor and the Customer Journey Co-ordinator.

An ideal team member will be:

A good communicator, responsible, articulate, enthusiastic, reliable, a self-starter with initiative, able to work both individually and in a team, well presented, able to relate to a wide range of people and fun.

Job training

We will work with you to develop your promotional and communication skills, and there will be briefing sessions before all major events. You will receive a manual, which will give you all the information you need to speak knowledgeably about Unitec.

Student Promo Team uniform

You will be issued with a Student Promo Team t-shirt to wear for all promotional work.

Time commitment

We will attempt to offer regular work throughout the year. However at times the hours of work can be intermittent depending on school visit schedules, campus tour bookings, the Marketing and Communication Department's calendar of events and your availability. When you apply, you can indicate which days or part days you are available on.

Remuneration

The hourly rate is between $14 and $15 (including 8% holiday pay).

A job like this looks good on your CV. It encompasses many skills and demonstrates many qualities that are highly sought-after by employers.
