Programme summary

Want to work in marketing and sales? Gain an insight into marketing and sales practice, marketing planning and strategy, buyer behaviour, e-marketing, international marketing and the marketing of services. Practise what you've learnt in a work experience placement.

The Bachelor of Business (Marketing) provides you with the knowledge to provide domestic and international markets with brands and services that win hearts and minds. Develop a sound knowledge of marketing and sales practice, and gain insight into the New Zealand and global business environment. Find out how to identify customers' needs and the issues to consider when developing new products and services. You'll also learn to price, promote and distribute products and services to satisfy the target customers.


  • Emphasis on real business practice: this programme has been developed with input from national and international business leaders. You study marketing practice in real-world organisations.
  • Industry placement: in your final year you take part in Industry Based Learning (IBL), undertaking a relevant project and producing a portfolio that showcases your learning. You work part-time while completing some study as part of your programme of learning. An academic supervisor from Unitec will guide you through the experience.
  • Flexibility: choose how many courses you want to take each semester, and complete the programme in your own timeframe.

Double majors

In a world of change and complexity, it's an advantage to have multiple skills and to be adaptable. A Bachelor of Business double major includes the common and major-specific compulsory courses from the two Bachelor of Business majors. A double major can be completed within three-and-a-half to four years of full-time study.
