The Diploma in Tourism Leadership and Management provides you with the skills to become a future tourism industry leader – determined to ensure all New Zealand’s visitors, both international and domestic, experience the best our country can offer. Develop the skills you need for a career in tourism operations, sales and marketing, tour guiding and special event management, and help ensure that all of New Zealand's tourists access the best experience the country can offer.

Learn to manage others in teams and to develop your own skills and abilities, while gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of business processes, legal and economic environments and the critical factors in the success of a tourism business. Five compulsory courses form the basis of your studies.

Gain a thorough understanding of the tourism industry, marketing and successful tourism businesses. Find out how to use computer reservation systems, learn about IATA ticketing and fare construction, and further your knowledge of business and events tourism.

Choose from a range of electives that cover areas such as computer reservation systems, IATA ticketing and fare construction, event management or niche tourism. Other electives from the disciplines of sport, business, languages and communication round out your studies and allow you to specialise in an area of choice from Unitec’s wide range of programmes.
