Scala Seminar Series
Hosted by the Departments of Landscape Architecture and Architecture
The Scala Seminar Series is an hour long lunchtime public lecture designed to provide students with high quality, relevant information from academics and practitioners on a variety of topics relating to the multi-disciplinarity of landscape design, landscape architecture and plant science.
The series focuses on the synergies of these disciplines by providing a forum for current practice and research in landscape and architecture. CPD points are available to practitioners by both the NZ Institutes of Landscape Architecture and Architecture.

Build Back Better: Haiti 2011
by Mark Mismash (Lecturer) and students from the Department of Architecture
12.30pm - 1.30pm, Thursday 17th May 2012
Haiti 2011 was a partnership that Mark Mismash established between Architecture for Humanity and a group of architecture students from Unitec.

This will be a Pecha Kucha style presentation, introduced by Mark, with the students each giving personal accounts of their experiences and of the projects that they contributed to during their stay in Haiti. The presentation will coincide with an exhibition of photographs from the trip, which will be displayed in the exhibition space in front of the Building 1 Library at Unitec from 14-18 May.
The students presenting are: Gabriel Fung, Arnika Blount, Elfie Hamilton, Marcus Richardson, Sam Morris and Courtney Smith-Frank.
Architecture for Humanity is the brainchild of Cameron Sinclair, CEO (Chief Eternal Optimist), a non-profit firm that provides professional design services with the aim of making a difference in communities and working towards building a more sustainable future.
