Programme summary

Advance your technical skills in accounting. Choose those courses that are most relevant to your career – from accounting information systems, financial and management accounting, and business finance, to auditing, taxation and business law.

Do you already have a degree in accountancy and want to further your accounting knowledge and skills? Or do you have a degree in another, non-accounting, area and want to get into an accounting career? The Diploma in Professional Accountancy is designed to help you complete the academic requirements for entry to the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA), or to achieve a New Zealand accounting qualification. It can help you meet the NZICA’s membership conditions for the College of Accounting Technicians (AT), College of Associate Chartered Accountants (ACA) and College of Chartered Accountants (CA).

Highlights

  • Can help you meet the NZICA’s academic requirements for the College of Accounting Technicians (AT), College of Associate Chartered Accountants (ACA) and College of Chartered Accountants (CA).
  • A chance to complete technical courses in accounting and finance to take advantage of accreditation with other professional bodies such as CPA Australia and ACCA.
  • Developed with input from the professional accounting body.
  • A focus on business practice in real organisations.
  • Flexibility – you can select those courses that best meet the requirements of your accounting career, from financial and management accounting to taxation and auditing.

  • Can be studied either on a full-time or part-time basis. Classes are offered during the day and/or the evening.

Meeting NZICA requirements

If you’re completing this qualification to meet the fourth-year academic requirement of NZICA you should carefully select your courses, so that you meet all the required courses including the liberal studies component. Please refer to the NZICA website www.nzica.com.
