Study transmedia at Unitec and learn a range of tools and techniques for designing and producing compelling cross-media content for platforms including film, television, websites, games, mobile apps, social media and more.

Collaborate with other students on a range of transmedia projects, and learn from academics and industry professionals who will give you an understanding of transmedia practice and production within a New Zealand and global context.

You’ll learn to critically assess storytelling methods for cross-media platforms. You’ll also develop the creative and technical skills to produce transmedia content, with an emphasis on transmedia storytelling, production and design.

Transmedia practitioners are increasingly in demand in entertainment, business and government, and graduates of this dynamic discipline can be found at advertising agencies, media and entertainment companies, non-profit organisations and more.

Developing industry networks while you study will help you get ahead in your career. Study transmedia at Unitec and you’ll benefit from our links with employers as well as being taught by practicing industry professionals from the creative sector.

Our transmedia courses have been developed in consultation with transmedia expert Jeff Gomez, our Adjunct Professor of Transmedia. Gomez is CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment – the world’s leading producer of transmedia franchises.

We have a partnership with Toi O Tamaki Auckland Art Gallery where two of our students took part in the Outreach Programme Internship.
