Aim: 
To enable students to understand the main ideas of complex spoken texts on both concrete and abstract topics. To enable students to understand complex texts independently on familiar and unfamiliar topics.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
 
Topics include: 

- The tertiary learning environment and e-learning technologies, including Moodle
- Aspects of bicultural and multi cultural New Zealand, appropriate for the level and context, including texts on Matauranga Maori
- Learning strategies, including working with others, setting goals, reflective practice, research strategies, maximising opportunities for learning
- The good language learner
