Aim: 
To enable students to learn analysis of electronic circuits and the use of simulation programs to determine circuit performance.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Engineering Technology programme to enrol in this course. Pre-requisite: ENGGMG5019.
Topics include: 

1. Simulation packages to analyse and design electronic circuits.
2. Source and load impedances in simulated circuits.
3. Operational amplifiers and associated circuits.
4. Types of noise introduced by an operational amplifier and its external circuit.
5. Small signal amplifiers using load lines and transistor circuit models.
6. Types of power amplifiers, calculation of maximum input and output power levels,efficiences and power dissipation resulting from the use of heat sinks.
7. Operation and characteristics of power semiconductor devices as applied to power amplifiers.
8. AC coupled amplifiers and special applications of op-amps.
9. Low frequency oscillators
