Aim: 
To enable students to gain an introduction to the principles and practice of geotechnical engineering in the context of Civil Engineering construction projects.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Engineering Technology programme to enrol in this course.
Topics include: 

1. Nature and formation of soils and rocks
2. Groundwater systems
3. Civil Engineering site investigation methods
4. Physical and engineering properties of soils and rocks
5. Geological maps
6. Landslides
