Aim: 
The purpose of this course is to enable the student to integrate a wide range of technological, analytical and communication processes relating to the preparation of a building site for the construction of complex architecturally designed dwellings and light commercial buildings.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bach of Applied Technology or Dip in Applied Technology Bldg to enrol in this course. Pre-reqs:BAT: (APPT5110 or 5010) &(BUIT5110 or 5100).Restrictn:BUIT6103. DATB: (APPT5110 or 5011)& (BUIT5110 or 5100)Restrictn:BUIT6103
Topics include: 

Construction site preliminary Construction site set out, site establishment, soil bearing capacity, ground stability, excavation, quantities, shoring, temporary and permanent site services, existing services, demolition & protecting adjoining properties, Health and Safety, levelling, methods of programming, roles, responsibilities and communication issues, problem/task resolution process, sustainability
Documents Health and Safety, construction legislation, (Building Code, Standards Association of New Zealand (SANZ), Resource Management Act etc
), contract and compliance documents, building consents, working drawings and specifications, plant and equipment, timelines, costs and quantities
