Aim: 
To enable students to use modelling and analysis techniques applicable to the areas of study.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Technology programme to enrol in this course.
Topics include: 

1. Dimensional analysis and scaling principles
Similitude
parameters and requirements
Methods of achieving geometric, kinematic and dynamic similarities
Application of physical models in vehicle engineering
2. Describing engineering phenomena
theoretical, empirical, analytic and simulation models
Development of mathematical models
formulation, analysis, verification and results interpretation
4. Vehicle body structural and aerodynamic evaluation
Engine building and tuning simulation
Vehicle suspension and dynamic analysis
Transmission and driveline parameters optimization
Brakes and steering characteristics imitation
Full vehicle performance rapid simulation and review of design options
