Aim: 
To enable students to diagnose complex integrated faults and failures in the rectification of vehicle electronic faults and failure.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Bachelor of Applied Technology programme to enrol in this course. Pre-requisite: APTE6505.
Topics include: 

1. Vehicle system electronic controllers, platform of flexible vehicle controller specification development, electric gear shift controller and automatic transmission controls, schematic capture, CAN integration / Management,
Competence in Sensors and actuators, electronics, Algorithm development, software implementation and calibration automotive powertrain applications CAN Bus, Gearbox and Driveline, battery management, cooling pumps,
HVAC, heating and air conditioning, brake assistance, and power steering specification and packaging, component packaging, BIW and crash worthiness engineering, environmental testing
2. CAN integration / management, competence in Sensors and actuators, electronics, Communications integration, using experience of CAN, LIN, Flex ray, course and symptoms alignment, logical rectification
3. Measurement range and variables, system and component serviceability characteristics, manufacturers data sheet and specification, triangulated static and dynamic analysis, design FMEA including safety analysis, cloning of electronic control units,
performance testers, oscilloscopes, scan tools, industry standards diagnostics tools, rectification process, cost analysis
