Aim: 
Enable the student to critically examine, analyse and discuss, social, cultural and legal concepts of social justice and human rights in Aotearoa-New Zealand and in a global context. To develop a students ability to critique a human-rights-based approach to professional practice in relation to social justice in New Zealand.
Pre-requisites / Co-requisites: 
Students must be admitted to the Master of Applied Practice or the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Practice or the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Practice to enrol in this course.
Topics include: 

May include but are not limited to
1. Human Rights norms and mechanisms.
2. Dynamics of Human Rights.
3. Legal and professional implications of recent debates and changes in social policy
4. New Zealand and international human rights normative frameworks.
5. Human rights institutions; nationally and internationally.
6. Rights-based approaches.
7. Concepts of social justice
