The Applied Practice programmes are designed for experienced professionals wanting a postgraduate level programme that can be tailored to them. These programmes elevate your thinking, problem-solving and expertise, they can also lead you to become an agent of change and lead innovation and/or transformation practice in your industry, community, workplace and in you. This is why we’ve called it Applied (actual transformational outcomes) and Practice (impacts what you do).

These programmes are designed to support work integrated learning, and to enable Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary thinking, work and research. This is because by nature, practice based research is not siloed but encompasses the complexities that accompany the challenges of practice.

Fit to your needs

Adaptable programme: Bring your challenges and what you want to transform to us and we will adapt the programme to suit your practice challenge/innovation.

Work integrated learning: This structure allows your work to strengthen your study and your study to strengthen your work. As such, you may also find support from your work to assist your study.

Your pace: Our team will work with you to develop a schedule that works for you. You can, of course, opt for part time study, so you can continue to earn while you learn.

Your pathway:

  • Create your pathway from a range of courses and disciplines and tailor your study to your career goals. Within an Applied Practice programme you’re not limited to one discipline of study.
  • The Applied Practice programmes enable transdisciplinary study focussed in your workplace or industry. This allows you to create richer contexts, give more depth to your study, and helps you to identify and develop solutions for complex and contemporary work-based problems.  View the stories from our students below to see how they have done this.
  • Study in your work place, or take up research programmes or a research project.

Designed for experienced professionals: Our Applied Practice programmes are designed for experienced professionals wanting to become conscious reflective practitioners, to develop new aspects of practice, to innovate, and/or to produce evidence based research about practice. It is work-integrated learning

Culturally responsive pedagogies:

Rigour in problem solving and research: The academic structure and support from our highly qualified team gives you the rigour required for postgraduate level study. This includes a guided approach to your study with systematic critical, analytical and reflective thinking.

Transformative: Rather than being solely literature based, the research element of the Applied Practice programmes encourages complex conversations relating to your work and study from the outset.  This can lead to diversity in thought and could better guide your research to produce real implementable solutions. i.e. research with a purpose and outcome.
