Run & Walk event at Mt Albert campus this Sunday

  • RunWalk-event

This annual Run & Walk Event Series is designed as an official lead up to the ASB Auckland Marathon – a great way to help you get underway with your training or just to get active with family and friends. This first event in a series of five will be held at Mt Albert campus this Sunday 9 July 2017.

At each event, all located in Auckland, there is a choice of distances to suit all fitness levels. And, there’s no need for a babysitter as the kids have their own races too and a fun zone!

Sunday’s events open at 9:00am, starting with the 10km, 7.5km, 5km, and 2.5km distance walking and running options. The kids event, will start at 10.30am with a 2km run and there’s also a MoreFM Kids Zone run by their staff for kids 5 years plus, which includes a bouncy castle, games and other activities!

Through the Series distances progress at each event, an ideal build up over three months. The focus is on providing a fun and supportive environment, and in a lap format perfect for practicing your pacing, with hydration and nutrition at regular intervals.

Full details on all five events including entry information is available on the Run & Walk Event Series site.

Course information, road closures and car parking:

The start and finish of the event will be located approximately 50 metres north of building 172 on Recreational Drive and will run on internal roads around the Mt Albert campus. The course follows a 2.5km loop and the following roads will be closed (no vehicle access) from 8.30am until the event finishes approx 11:00am.

Recreation Drive (one way lane operating for access into car parks outside building 044, 174, 201 and 054), roads passing buildings 057, 059–063, 070–080, 083–108, 110–136, 140, 143–173, 178, 180–183, 300–301 and 310–313 will be closed to all vehicles and only accessible on foot.

Due to the road closures and significant amount of people on campus for this event, approximately 300, we’re recommending to students who live on campus and plan to head out of the grounds on Sunday, to do so by 8.30am. After this time the roads will be closed until after the event (approx 11:00am). Those residences (or staff and students) who are coming into the grounds during the event may park their vehicles in the car parks provided via gates 1–4.
