Profile

Andries worked for a large mining company for 19 years and acted as Training Manager in their training department. Andries has 10 years consultancy experience in HR/ ER and Employment Law, and has conducted almost 400 cases successfully for the South African Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration the equivalent of the ERA in New Zealand. He was the founder of an Employers Organisation in January 1997.

As an Industrial Sociologist, Andries was a Managing Director for an Auckland retail company. Since 2011, he is a consultant in his spare time for a law firm on the North Shore, representing employers and employees successfully in mediation and the ERA.

Andries is an external examiner for Masters and PhD degrees for international universities (he has examined 33 PhDs and 35 Masters theses) and has reviewed numerous articles for International Journals and Conferences.. He is a member of HRINZ and a professional member of ANZAM and a fellow of WBI. His 28 years industry experience is used when teaching on the Masters and BBus programmes, and he supervises Master theses as primary supervisor at Unitec.

He is an active researcher with 68 journal articles published since 2005, 98 conference papers since 2003, 38 book chapters, co-author of 5 books, General Editor of a student text book and co-author of 5 more student text books.

Areas of research interest: Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Employment Relations, Strategy & Change Management, Leadership, Leadership Development, Diverse Workforces, Entrepreneurship and Organisational Behaviour. He is teaching in most of these areas as well.
