Building Today Saving Tomorrow

  • Construction and Deconstruction Conference

Unitec Institute of Technology warmly invites you to contribute to the Building Today – Saving Tomorrow Conference which takes place from 15 to 17 July 2015, Auckland.

The construction and demolition (C&D) industry is one of the largest waste producing industries in New Zealand. C&D waste may represent up to 50% of all waste generated, 20% of all waste going to landfill and 80% of all waste going to cleanfill.

Much C&D waste can be reduced, reused and recovered, dramatically decreasing the amount thrown away.  Diverting waste from landfill or cleanfill requires careful planning for each project.  Decisions made about waste reduction during the planning phases are more likely to endure throughout the project.

The major themes of this conference include ‘construction for deconstruction’; reuse and recovery; C&D waste reduction, waste management on site and good practice; landfill diversion; cleanfill diversion.

Who should come?

Construction and demolition practitioners, academics, government and local government leaders/change makers, apprentices and students - anyone actively working to reduce C&D waste is welcome!
