It’s been an amazing year for our 3 students, Vicky, Netane and Alex. We’ve seen their highs and their lows from the TV ads, and you can now watch the full documentary.

Directed by Andrew Morton of Film Construction, this 45 minute documentary follows the students’ progress over 12 months and includes footage not included in the TV episodes.

“I enjoy working on a number of different sites and projects, meeting new people, being exposed to a variety of survey instruments, and keeping up with the latest in survey technology.

My Unitec lecturers helped me with both survey theory and field practice. As the only female student in the class, the encouragement they gave me was very much appreciated and has certainly helped in my career aspirations thus far. Some of the lecturers were practising surveyors and the latest equipment was often brought in and demonstrated to us. We also visited some construction sites to get a feel for ‘on the job’ realities.

I’m particularly proud of graduating with academic excellence, and now being a valued member of a survey team while being able to enjoy a full family life after hours. In my role now I’m responsible for undertaking surveying and land development tasks and assignments of varied complexity, such as cadastral boundary redefinitions, topographical surveys, as-built, asset data capture and set-out surveys for civil engineering construction, settlement and deformation monitoring surveys, and tenancy lease measurement surveys (BOMA).”
