If you enjoy motivating other students, and can work one-on-one or in groups, why not become a START Mentor to our first-year students?
The START mentor programme aims to help new students get the best start to their studt experience at Unitec. The programme aims to help new students settle into Unitec life with their studies as well as socially. Mentors can also help raise awareness of the many support services Unitec offers its students.
We're looking for current students willing to support between 2 to 4 students in Semester 1, 2013, and 2 to 4 students in Semester 2, 2013.
In exchange for this service, START mentors will receive $1,200 towards their course costs at the end of Semester One 2013, provided they have fully participated in the mentoring programme.
To be a START mentor you will need to:
- Be studying in 2013 at least at a 0.5 EFT level (i.e half-time study or more)
- Be a domestic student
- Have studied at Unitec for at least one year
- Be available for a week-long training period
- Be available to meet with the START students for up to 20-30 hours per semester
