Unitec Residential Village

If you’re wondering where to stay while you’re at Unitec, check out the Unitec Residential Village, which is open to New Zealand and international students.

The Residential Village consists of two apartment complexes: Building 310 and Building 300. Building 310 is located on the Mt Albert campus and Building 300 is on Great North Road, connected to Building 310 by a short walkway. Close to campus facilities and fields, the village provides a fun and relaxed lifestyle.

Building 300 (1510 Great North Road) has 34 apartments, all of which have five bedrooms, a shared lounge, a kitchen and a bathroom.

Building 310 provides the choice of one-bedroom to five-bedroom apartments.

Facilities

All apartments are comfortably furnished and have:

• A fully equipped kitchen with a stove top and oven, fridge/freezer, crockery, cutlery, microwave and storage space
• A bathroom
• A lounge/dining area with a lounge suite, coffee table, dining table and chairs
• A telephone jack point
• A vacuum cleaner.
  

All bedrooms come with:

• A king-sized single bed
• Shelves
• Desk and chair
• A wardrobe
• A noticeboard.
  

Security - The Residential Village is permanently staffed and we operate security patrols in and around campus at all times.

Meals - The Village is self-catering, which means you buy and prepare your own meals. There are several cafes and food outlets on campus.

Bedding - Please note that bedding and linen are not provided.

Laundry - Coin-operated washing machines and dryers are conveniently located in the Residential Village's two laundry rooms.

Car park - Car parking is available at both apartment complexes. If you will be parking at Building 300, you will need to pay a NZ$120 charge for parking per semester.

Gym membership - If you stay at the Residential Village for at least one semester, you will receive free gym membership at our well-equipped Sports Centre.

Rent

*Indicated rent charges are based on 2008, which will be subject to review.

Bond, Amenities fee and village residents’ association fee

In order to secure your room you must pay:

• A refundable bond of NZ$200 and
• A non-refundable amenities fee of NZ$10 per week by the number of weeks in the Unitec Tenancy Agreement period. This is linked to the length of your programme of study at Unitec and is payable in full and in advance with payment of bond.
  

The amenities fee includes water charges, electricity/power, gym, membership and social activities for Village residents. The Village Resident’s Association (VRA) Fee of NZ$20 forms part of the Amenities Fee.
